So my friend and I finished refurbishing two of my four Super Stock IIIs yesterday. Before pic after the jump for comparison. What does oppo think?

Thanks! I think it turned out fairly well. It’s not the same wheel as in the before pic, but all four were in similar condition. Rim #2 was the worst, rim #4 (shown in the before pic) was the best. The after pic shows rim #1. Still, I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Not bad for $37.50 a corner, including the cost of the wheels and tires.

That’s great. After you’re done, I got some more you can clean up, if you want.

What did you actually use on them?

I’ve worked with badly pitted chrome alloys and these super stocks. I don’t have any pics of the chromies, but I managed to strip them down real good.

I hit them several times with a wire wheel, then used rust stripper, then rust converter, and then I hit them with 2 coats of Duplicolor filler primer, and two coats of Duplicolor Machinery Grey. No magic, just good old manual labour. I didn’t even take the tires off the rims!

Be careful, the shipping costs may kill you, unless you want to take a road trip to Canada.

Thanks! They’re far from perfect, as there are some blemishes that are partially covered up by the chrome trim. But given the fact that they were refurbished by a pair of 15-year olds with little to no experience, I figure that they turned out just fine.
